No Title, by Zdzisław Beksiński, 1976 Zdzisław Beksiński
This painting represents one of the artist's dream. It looks like a vision of hell. As all of its artworks, it has no title but we can see a woman and a child riding a skeletal horse in front of a burning forest.

Chair III Chair III, oil on board, Norman Gilbert 2018
This painting represents Gilbert's wife in her last days.
I love how the picture is filled with joyful colors and lots of objects, and how that resonates in contrast with the distance that the painter puts between us and his wife. She is so far away in the back and still the protagonist of the image.
In Gilbert's paintings, more generally, it's remarkable how places, objects, and people seem to be part of the same, unique universe.

An Unlikely Pair Many may consider it an odd sight, a flock of ravens black as the night sky making their home in a field filled to the brim with brilliant flowers. Their massive, dark forms stand out in sharp contrast against the delicate greens of the fields they roam. However, what’s even stranger than their unseemly presence here is the reason they bothered to stay at all. Hidden among the never-ending blades of grass and weeds that stand much too tall is another family of creatures that call this meadow home, the field mice.
Now by some means, and no one is quite sure how, these two groups have formed an unlikely friendship. If one were to look closely, you’d see this unexpected pair working together, side by side. Mice perched atop of a raven, clinging on tight as they soar through wisps of clouds. The nests of ravens seem weaved and secured with what could only be the delicate craftsmanship of the field mice. Even hidden among the flowers lies intricate, miniature farms, filled with seeds from all over the meadow that could only be accomplished with the combined efforts of this unlikely team.
Although no one knows just how this strange alliance was formed, it is certainly something that is one of a kind, and will continue to last for generations.

Mirror I look into the mirror. What am I doing with myself?
My bathroom, usually bright and clean, has turned ominous and cluttered. I feel lost. All of the choices that led me here, all of the sacrifices I made, were they worth it?
I look in the mirror. I don't see myself anymore.

Light Jumping People are always like, “wow, Era, it sure must be hard being a Quantum.” Well, sucks to be them, because it’s great. Clearly they’ve never braved the entrance of a black hole, afraid that their squishy bodies would crumple before they reached the cities of pure energy on the other side. Of course they don’t know the thrill of zipping through time, experiencing every version of yourself at once. Nope, they just sit at their coffee tables or whatever, pitying the silent, luminous ghosts that pass them by in a blink.

The Statue A girl sitting by the lake makes a wish to find love which makes the statue next to her come to life. They spend the evening together and fall in love. When they are about to kiss, they both turn into statues.

Sanctuary for the Lonely You dip your feet over the edge of a floating island into the clouds. You feel the cool water droplets gently tickle your toes as a warm mist from a nearby floating river caresses your cheeks. You fill your lungs with the sweet and subtle fragrance of lavender from a nearby meadow. You feel the warmth of your two new friends as they embrace you in a tight and wholehearted group hug. You try to take in as much of this moment, this beautiful, yet fleeting, genuine happiness. You hang on to your friends’ arms right until the very moment the island crumbles beneath you. Next thing you know, you find yourself right back in your empty bedroom, lonely and listless.
